Grant Funding Intro Sessions

Info Sessions on SBIR, STTR, and Virginia's CCF Grant Programs

March 18-21, 2024 -- Locations Across Central Virginia

Each session will provide provide an overview of grant funding for Virginia based companies and researchers who are developing early-stage technology. Featured will be discussions about the federal Small Business Innovation Research grant programs, also known as SBIR (11 agencies award over $4B annually in $200K-$2M grants), and the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Commonwealth Commercialization Fund ($75K grants for small business and higher education technology development/commercialization). We’ll cover the basics of the programs, eligibility rules, funding amounts available, processes, timelines, and other support available to help. Coffee & Bagels will be served at morning sessions, and a light lunch for the lunch sessions. FREE -- Advance registration requested.

National Science Foundation SBIR/STTR Proposal Prep Workshops

The National Science Foundation (NSF) invests more than $230 million annually in their SBIR/STTR Program to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; and to secure the national defense. National Institutes of Health SBIR/STTR Proposal Prep Workshops

For basic research advancing beyond the academic realm into product development, the NIH provides non-dilutive federal funding through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. The NIH SBIR/STTR programs award over $1.25 billion in R&D funding annually to qualified small businesses developing game-changing technologies. For those familiar with NIH SBIR, this may be a chance to learn more, ask questions, learn about resubmission processes, stay up to date on any changes in the guidelines or requirements for submissions, hear different perspectives, and network. During this workshop, our expert will provide important information about SBIR/STTR funding and address how to craft a competitive SBIR/STTR proposal that meets the unique requirements of the NIH.
